A Label of Firsts

Protos

Spanish wine brand Protos approached DAf to create a brand video for its 1927 wine, a cuvée that still bears the original label from its first vintage. The challenge was to discover a cinematic language capable of conveying the historical weight of this packaging while reaffirming the brand’s foundational values for contemporary audiences. More than a product story, the film needed to evoke legacy, authenticity, and the enduring relevance of origin.

A label unchanged since 1927

The narrative focuses on two defining pillars of Protos: its vanguard spirit and its profound connection to Ribera del Duero. From its founders’ pioneering vision to the winery’s unwavering belief in terroir, Protos has always balanced innovation with respect for place. By framing the historic label as a symbol of those local pioneers, the film helps differentiate the brand as both guardian of tradition and catalyst for progress, supported by intimate close-ups and a restrained voiceover that lets the imagery speak.

Ribera del Duero as an identity

A Label of Firsts

Through minimalist storytelling and tactile visual detail, the film transforms a simple label into a powerful emblem of continuity across generations. Rather than opposing forces, history and vision emerge as complementary threads woven into a single narrative. The result is a brand expression designed to dazzle through quiet confidence, proving that authenticity, when carefully revealed, can be more compelling than spectacle.
