Castillo de Molina is a brand that boasts 150 years of experience and a reputation as a trusted brand for quality wine in over 30 countries. When they approached DAf, it was with a simple request for a tall order: Help create a new image and storytelling that portray Castillo de Molina as a legacy of excellence. Highlighting them as a brand with a wine for every occasion and a tribute to the ecological diversity of Chilean valleys.
In honor of Castillo de Molina’s lasting legacy, we used the phrase “Timelessly Crafted”, effectively communicating that be it in the 19th century or today, this level of quality is made to be savored. From here, we set out to tell the brand’s history with a strong emphasis on Chilean wine-growing valleys and their relationship to wine. And in this case, something truly lovely and unique seemed to be in order. To do so, we opted to take a more whimsical approach, using hand-drawn illustrations and animation to design key visuals, a video, and even new labels.
With the help of a local illustrator, images of various Chilean valleys came to life through highly-detail, black-and-white pencil drawings with common wine motifs such as grapes, vineyards, and foliage. Featured prominently is the lineup of wines in Castillo de Molina’s lineup complete with new labels. Speaking of said labels, they offer a fresh new look to well-known wine. Each variety is labeled with illustrations of a different wine valley set with gilt touches for an elegant look that is a feast for the eyes.
