Casillero del Diablo
Casillero del Diablo came to DAf to help develop a new line designed to appeal to Generation Z consumers new to wine. It needed to be a fun, entry-level product with a clear connection to the quality of Casillero del Diablo. The client had an initial idea and needed our assistance to create multiple visual elements. The idea: Devil’s Carnaval. This range of four incredible wines by Casillero del Diablo was created for those who see every day as a chance to celebrate, which allowed us to discover firsthand a world where wine and celebration become one.
Entry-level wine designed to bring new consumers into the brand
We drew from the colorful celebration of carnaval to create the masks that give personality to each of the four SKUs. These masks also bring in the character of the Devil, connecting with the Casillero del Diablo brand. We created key visuals featuring the masks and their corresponding bottles, produced a video and designed POS assets, expressing the wines’ vivid and seductive qualities by leaning into the range’s titular carnaval. The result was a lush series of animations prominently featuring brightly-colored masks that differentiate the range’s passionate identity and the celebrations contained within. To continue evolving, we created a video with all the color and vibrancy of the first, but this time with a lifestyle, live action twist.
Still leaning into the concept of “Carnaval” as a celebration, albeit in a more realistic manner, we decided to portray scenes of celebration in their various forms: a loud party complete with a DJ, a bright afternoon patio gathering, late-night wine on a rooftop, and friends chatting over drinks.
Color, rhythm, and social codes at the center of the system
To continue evolving, we created a video with all the color and vibrancy of the first, but this time with a lifestyle, live action twist. Celebration portrayed through real-life moments
The eye follows the journey of various Devil’s Carnaval wines through different settings and celebrations, each one with a color palette to match the designated wine. Each clip is fast-paced, with color schemes matching the featured wine and vibrant transitions reflecting the scene’s events. This use of vibrant colors and energetic sequences communicates the liveliness of a wine perfect for Gen Z. Delving deep into a brand’s underlying concept allows us to find a basis for rich visuals that differentiate the product. In Devil’s Carnaval, color and vibrancy shine in both animation and live action, turning a strong idea into a lifestyle world that continues to dazzle as it grows with its audience.
